gouache

Youpi!
I'm back after a way too long pause away from the blog world. Still keen on knowledge circulation tough :) Here is a small W.I.P. of a gouache illustration i made for a french children magazine
I was scared to venture into traditional technique by myself, and wouldn't have put myself to it without the support of the excellent Rob Howard's book Gouache for Illustration
Yes it was very difficult to find it and was expensive, but it was worth it because it's full of usefull tips and techniques that you cant' really learn anywhere these days.
I used Talens gouache. I love it. (people from Talens, feel free to send me some samples for saying that :) )

En premier le dessin...
First the drawing
...

Then i did the outline in brown (didn't really know where to start really)
Puis j'ai continué dans ma lancée...
Then i went on and filled the body
...

Et voila for the gouache stage!
I changed the branch for green to brown on the computer afterward so it wouldn't look so much like a liana.
Le bureau...
The (slightly messy) desk...
