Atelier de Feutrage de Laine #loveoflearning

Dans la série "j'apprends de nouvelles choses", j'ai suivi un atelier de feutrage de laine encadré par Delphine Ertzscheid. Ca prend un temps fou... J'ai fait ce petit galet, sur lequel j'ai rajouté des bandes blanches à l'aiguille (une autre technique de feutrage de laine). Ca m'a pris au moins une heure.

Bon, avec un bébé dans les bras c'est peut être normal d'être moins efficace :)

et voilà le résultat!

Strasbourg Mon Amour

I now have a 4-and-half-months old daughter.
Finding some time to have a tea and draw passerbys is a challenge.
Yet I need and love it so much...

Depuis la naissance d'Olympe mon emploi du temps est millimétré.
Trouver une heure pour aller dessiner dans un café est une sorte de miracle orchestré avec soin.

Ecole des Sorciers _ Moi Je lis numero 322

J'ai eu la bonne surprise que Claire Bertholet écrive un deuxième volet des enquêtes d'Agatha et Jane. Du coup j'ai illustré ce nouveau récit, paru dans le magazine Moi Je Lis n°322.
De la magie, une atmosphère entre Saint-Agil et Harry Potter, des héroïnes au caractère bien trempé et des chats... que du bonheur :)

Chez Caribara j'ai rencontré des gens merveilleux, et l'un d'entre eux m'a gentillement (ré?)expliqué les charmes de la  perspective. Parce qu'avant les décors ça me parlait moins que les persos. Donc merci Jean-Charles Ripoll, plus chouette decorateur du monde

Hop hop hop, ça m'a bien servi dans mes illustrations pour le Moi Je Lis commandé par Milan Presse. (Nicolas et l'equipe, si vous passez par ici, un Grand Merci aussi)

Tout à l'aquarelle et au feutre u_u A paraitre en juin.

What I love about working in a studio is meeting new people. At Caribara I was lucky enough to encounter Jean-Charles Ripoll, an amazing BG artist, who kindly reminded me that perspective does not only exist, but can also be usefull. 

So I indeed used it in the illustrations I made for Moi Je Lis, a french magazine for kids whom I love working with.

Joyeux Noel

Well, technically I didn't wrote "Joyeux Noel 2010"... so let's say I'm preparing next year X-Mas

It might be the approach of my thirtieth birthday: I'm starting to see things in the long run ^^

Disons que je prépare Noël prochain... à l'approche de la trentaine je commence à voir les choses à long terme...

#2 Amandes

More watercolour jubilation!!!

This time I used a minuscule sponge and masking fluid on the character for the green in the background, and managed to refrain the impulse to cover every part of the picture with color.
I usually enjoy so much using my paints that, when doing personal work, I merrily keep adding, and adding and adding layers of brightness and beautifulness... and I end up with a filled-with-love-but-muddy result quite far from my original intention :)
This time I happy with the result. Though next time I'll try to get more of a Xmas feeling in the color scheme maybe.

Yesterday's drawing was reminding me of Manu Arenas... this one made me think of Kei Acedera whose ibook I download a while ago on my iphone, along with other books from ArtistSketchbooks. The Imaginism/Schoolism team really came up with awsome ideas and initiatives these past few years...

I am seriously starting to think about Xmas, and i am starting watercolour on the subject.
First of the thirtheen traditional provencal Christmas desert: pears.

Adding some photoshop on top of the watercolour: Linear Burn and ... ..Divide. This last version somehow reminded me of Manu Arenas work on Yacin... I love the book by the way: have you read it? Ideal for a Christmas present u_u click here to order it on amazon.fr :)

Novembre. 18/30. wip Bergamote de Nancy

Today/night I started a new watercolour.
First the inspiration sketch (might have been done during lunch break at work...) based on a candy that comes from my grandparents hometown Nancy called "bergamotte"

Then, back at home after work, I established a color scheme

And decided the character was going to be based on Louise Brooks, who has the most graphic and amazing hair cut... I did some quick watercolour sketches based on picture I found online.

And I kept on watercolouring to look for color combinations...

A quick sketch in colerease on my wonderful Fabriano 650g as a basis...

and a few "minutes" later... I went a bit too far in the reds ...
